Celebration of the Divine Mercy Novena
at St. Laurence Parish in Sugar Land, Texas
2007
** FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY, now a recognized Feast Day in the Church, will be celebrated at all Masses on the First Sunday after Easter. The image will be in a prominent place to be venerated. The message is to focus on God’s mercy and how we are called to be vessels of mercy to a hurting world.
This day is one of great grace for all! Those attending Mass in a state of grace and having recently been to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as well as receiving Holy Communion and doing a deed of mercy that day, and venerating the image, will receive complete forgiveness of sin and punishment due for past offenses. This is likened to a “Second Baptism”, in that our souls are washed clean and made as white as snow. Our Lord told St. Faustina, “On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sin be as scarlet” (Diary of St. Faustina, 699) Let us approach the Fount of Mercy with an attitude of greater trust in Jesus
** GOOD FRIDAY DIVINE MERCY DEVOTION will begin at 7:00pm in the Main Church. We will begin with praying the Stations of the Cross, then the Novena followed by the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and closing with the Litany.
** DIVINE MERCY NOVENA Begins on Good Friday (can be said privately)
Our Lord asked St. Faustina : when he appeared to her in 1931, To Pray this Novena in petitioning His Mercy for the whole world. {with our continuing wars, terrorist threats, overflowing prisons, aids epidemic, STD’s, abortions (1000 a day just in USA), drugs, addictions, internet pornography}
We Need God’s Mercy!!!!!!
